The Koshi 40 PRO is a pixel LED controller built for displays made of many separate sections. It gives you 40 outputs, each driving up to 400 pixels – up to 16,000 pixels in total – so you can run lots of independent runs, fixtures, or small panels from one controller. It plays your effects straight from an SD card, with no computer needed once it is set up.

Everything is controlled with a single button – playback speed and even the Master/Slave sync mode – and all your settings are remembered after power off. How to Use

Step 1 – Make your effects (on a computer)

1. Open the free, open-source Jinix software on your computer.
2. Create your animation and export it as a .out file.
3. Copy your .out file(s) onto the SD card. You can store up to 50 .out files, and they will play one after another in a loop.

Step 2 – Add the settings file (conf.txt)

Create a plain text file named conf.txt on the SD card with this one line inside it:

LED=400

LED = the number of pixels on each output (up to 400). That is the only setting you need – the controller automatically works out how many outputs you are using.

Step 3 – Connect and play

1. Insert the SD card into the controller.
2. Connect your pixel LED lights to the output ports, matching the data and ground wires correctly.
3. Connect a DC 5V power supply to the controller and to your LEDs.
4. Switch on. The controller automatically starts playing the effects from the SD card.
5. Press the speed button to change the playback speed. There are 8 levels – each press moves to the next one, and your last speed is saved even after power off.

To run more than one controller together (DMX Sync): Every controller comes set as Master from the factory. To make a controller a Slave, hold its button for 8 seconds – the whole display blinks red 4 times to confirm, and the controller restarts in Slave mode. (Holding for 8 seconds again switches it back to Master, confirmed with 4 green blinks.) The mode is saved, so you only do this once. Then join the controllers with the sync cable: one Master, the rest Slaves – they lock together within seconds and play in perfect time.

Important for sync: every controller must use the same SD card contents – the same .out files with exactly the same file names (and the same conf.txt). The controllers match each other by file name, so identical names on the Master and every Slave ensure each one plays the same effect at the same moment.

Do I need a computer to run it?
No. A computer is only needed to design your animations in the Jinix software. Once your effects are on the SD card, the controller plays them on its own.

How do I make my own animations?
Design them on your computer using the free, open-source Jinix software, export them as .out files, and copy them to the SD card. The controller plays .out files directly.

How many animations can it store?
You can keep up to 50 .out effect files on one SD card. The controller plays them one after another in a continuous loop.

What is the conf.txt file?

They lock together within seconds of power on – and if the sync cable is ever unplugged and reconnected, the Slaves re-sync automatically.
