How to Use

Step 1 – Make your effects (on a computer)

  1. Open the free, open-source Jinix software on your computer.
  2. Create your animation and export it as a .out file.
  3. Copy your .out file(s) onto the SD card. You can store up to 50 .out files, and they will play one after another in a loop.

Step 2 – Add the settings file (conf.txt)

Create a plain text file named conf.txt on the SD card with this one line inside it:

LED=1000

LED = how many pixels you want on each output. That is the only setting you need – the controller automatically works out how many outputs to use, based on the total size of your effect.

Automatic output distribution: the controller reads the total pixel count from your effect file and divides it by your LED= value to decide how many outputs to use. A smaller LED= spreads the display across more outputs (shorter runs, faster refresh); a larger LED= uses fewer outputs with longer runs. You never set the number of outputs by hand – just change one number and power on.

For example, on a display with 8,000 pixels in total: LED=1000 uses 8 outputs (1000 pixels each), while LED=500 uses 16 outputs (500 pixels each). For a full 16,384-pixel display, LED=1024 uses all 16 outputs.

Step 3 – Connect and play

  1. Insert the SD card into the controller.
  2. Connect your pixel LED lights to the output ports, matching the data and ground wires correctly.
  3. Connect a DC 5V power supply to the controller and to your LEDs.
  4. Switch on. The controller automatically starts playing the effects from the SD card.
  5. Press the speed button to change the playback speed. There are 8 levels – each press moves to the next one, and your last speed is saved even after power off.

To run more than one controller together (DMX Sync): Set one controller as Master and the others as Slave using the selector, then join them with the sync cable. All controllers will then play in perfect time.

Important for sync: every controller must use the same SD card contents – the same .out files with exactly the same file names (and the same conf.txt). The controllers match each other by file name, so identical names on the Master and every Slave ensure each one plays the same effect at the same moment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a computer to run it?
No. A computer is only needed to design your animations in the Jinix software. Once your effects are on the SD card, the controller plays them on its own.

How do I make my own animations?
Design them on your computer using the free, open-source Jinix software, export them as .out files, and copy them to the SD card. The controller plays .out files directly.

How many animations can it store?
You can keep up to 50 .out effect files on one SD card. The controller plays them one after another in a continuous loop.

What is the conf.txt file?
It is a small text file on the SD card with one line – LED=, the number of pixels on each output. The controller automatically divides your total pixels by this number to set how many outputs are used, so you never set the outputs by hand. For example, LED=1000 on an 8,000-pixel display uses 8 outputs; LED=500 uses 16.

Do I have to set the number of outputs?
